Service Interval Indicator (SII)

Earlier BMW models utilise this system of ‘Service Indicator’ which consists of 5 green lights that will count down with mileage and then be replaced by an amber light to signal that the service has now become due or red, if overdue.

Some later models use a remaining mileage display, which signals that the service is due when the remaining distance gets to zero. An overdue service is indicated by a negative number.

The sequence of services follows this pattern
• Oil Service
• Inspection 1
• Oil Service
• Inspection 2

Oil Service

The oil service usually consists of an engine oil and filter replacement with Forte pre-flush, air conditioning microfilter replacement and a basic health check of the car including but not limited to tyre condition and pressures, lights, fluid levels, brakes and suspension.

Inspection 1

Inspection 1 consists of all the items included in the oil service plus a more in depth inspection of the car, fault code memory read and fuel system contamination treatment.

Inspection 2

Inspection 2 consists of all the items included in Inspection 1 plus an air filter replacement and spark plug replacement (petrol) or fuel filter replacement (diesel).

Brake Fluid Replacement

A Brake fluid replacement is required every two years on your BMW to ensure safe operation of the braking system under all conditions and to help maintain the life span of the hydraulic components of the system.

The brake fluid service requirement is indicated by a ‘clock’ symbol appearing in the service display area.
